Welcome to our first party!
Our goal is to provide a new experience where we teach the culture of electronic music to the public from the information and the event itself together with the selection of DJs according to each sound of each influential city of the genre that we like so much.
This time we are based on the Chicago House sound, where it all began!
Chicago
LHouse music is a music genre that originated in the early 1980s in Chicago, United States. It was created by musicians, DJs, and producers who fused different musical styles such as disco, funk, soul, and electro to create a unique and energetic sound.
The beginnings of house music can be traced back to underground clubs and private parties in the city of Chicago, where DJs like Frankie Knuckles, Ron Hardy, and Larry Levan began experimenting with mixing techniques and music production. These DJs were instrumental in the development of the house sound and are considered pioneers of the genre.
The Warehouse club played a fundamental role in the creation and popularization of house music. The club opened its doors in 1977 and was run by Robert Williams, known as "Robbie." The music and atmosphere of The Warehouse, along with Frankie Knuckles' talent as a DJ, helped establish the foundations of the genre. The club became a meeting point for the LGBTQ+ and black communities, where house music found its home and identity.
One of the most iconic early house music tracks is "On and On" by Jesse Saunders, released in 1984. This song is considered the first house music single produced by a Chicago artist. Other significant tracks from that time include "Can You Feel It" by Mr. Fingers (Larry Heard) and "Move Your Body" by Marshall Jefferson, both released in 1986, as well as the 1987 EP released by Frankie Knuckles "Your Love" which also includes the track "Baby Whants to Ride".
The record label Trax Records, founded by Larry Sherman in 1984, was crucial for the development and dissemination of house music in its early years. Trax Records released numerous tracks and albums by artists such as Frankie Knuckles, Marshall Jefferson, Larry Heard, and Farley "Jackmaster" Funk, among others.
In addition to those mentioned above, other key DJs and producers in the Chicago house scene include Phuture (a group formed by DJ Pierre, Spanky, and Herb J), Adonis, Farley "Jackmaster" Funk, Lil Louis, Robert Owens, and Steve "Silk" Hurley. These artists contributed to the evolution and popularization of house music both in Chicago and worldwide.
House music became a global movement in the late 1980s and early 1990s, spreading from Chicago to cities like New York, Detroit, and London, and then to various places around the world. Since then, countless iconic tracks have been produced, and influential DJs and producers have emerged in the genre. However, the artists and tracks mentioned above were instrumental in the early years of the house music movement in Chicago.
